Shane, Georg, Marko,

as I might have told you NLUUG, formerly the UNIX Users Group in .nl,
will have a special conference in Amsterdam, with just keynotes, to
celebrate its 25th anniversary. See http://www.nluug25.nl/ for details.

We would like to offer FSF Europe a booth at that conference, free of
charge, to promote FSF Europe. There are a few conditions which should
be met, but they are not restrictive at all  :-P

* max 2 people free entrance
* booth must be manned all time
* no recruiting

The same offer is also valid for our spring conference, on May 15 2008
(moved from May 8) in Ede, the Netherlands.

This would be a great opportunity to talk to people who work in
datacenters, instead of people who want to buy T-shirts so they can
spill pizza on it.

Let me know if you want to follow up on this offer, so we can arrange
stuff  :-)

I checked with Armijn Hemel.  He said 'the "no recruiting" would mean
not hire personel' and that Fellowship leaflets and stuff would
'definately' be OK.

I think it would be a good idea to attend this. Unfortunately, I can not
attend myself since we're doing a Swedish tour at the time. It also
means some logistic issues with our merchandise, since we have a
presence in a Swedish conference the 5-6th, but we'll solve that, once
we know that we're going :-)

The office is supposed to keep a general eye on things, but for each
event we should identify someone who can take on the general
coordination (this person should not be the office, but ideally someone
on site).

I haven't missed an NLUUG conference the past 2 years (I'm a NLUUG
member), but can't come to the anniversary conference. :-( I'm willing
to help with the booth at the spring conference however, but at the
moment I can't promise that I'm able to attend.

I think it would be a real shame to miss out on being at the NLUUG
conference this time around. But if we can't find anyone willing to care
for it, I think we would have to focus on the spring conference then.

OK, will I let NLUUG know we plan to go to the Spring Conference with a

conference on the 7th of november in Amsterdam. It seems none of the
usual booth people have time to be there, but we still feel it's an
interesting event to be present at.

Perhaps I may be of assistence?

I happen to be an official FSF fellow (#984) who works in Amsterdam,
right around the corner from where the NLUUG will be taking place.
However, I'm not a member of the NLUUG and would have to pay extra to
get in.

I might be able to convince my manager to give me a day off if I can
justify it sufficiently well, since this is a good cause.

Thanks for stepping up! If Ciaran has time that same day as well, then
we might just be able to pull it off. Also, we do get two entrence
passes gratis as an exhibitor, though we need to make sure that the
booth is manned at all times.

All the material would be shipped to you in some way from our office. In
fact, if you work right around the corner from the NLUUG, would you be
interested in taking care of some logistics for us then?

Since Ciaran would have to take the train in from Brussels, it would
make sense if we could ship everything to Amsterdam directly, and then
from there back to the office or the next conference. It would save us
from some logistic nightmares and probably Ciarans back as well :-)
